More and more people today struggle with allergies and atopic dermatitis (AD/eczema). Despite advances in modern medicine, many are still searching for lasting, effective solutions. One of the core issues is that allergies stem from an overactive immune response to substances that shouldn’t normally be harmful. Often, these are foreign proteins — but not always — which is why there’s no single, universal “cure.”

Holistic Support - Step by Step

Instead of merely masking symptoms, a natural approach focuses on strengthening the body and improving immune balance. Here’s a commonly used naturopathic strategy for managing allergy-related conditions:

  1. Vitamin D3 - This vitamin plays a crucial role in immune function. For the first 2-3 months, aim for blood levels of 80-100 ng/ml of the 25(OH) metabolite. Afterwards, maintain a preventive level around 50-70 ng/ml.

  2. Gut Repair - A healthy gut is essential for immune health. Supplements like LonBiome (taken 30 minutes before meals), as well as fermented foods like sauerkraut, beetroot, and colostrum, can be helpful.

  3. Stomach Acid Support - About 10 minutes before meals, a spoonful of wormwood tincture or high-quality apple cider vinegar may help with proper digestion and nutrient absorption.

  4. Anti-inflammatory Support - For example, Alyvium (1 capsule twice a day) may support inflammation balance.

  5. Hydration - Proper hydration with water and a pinch of natural salt is key to overall function and detoxification.

  6. Healthy Fats & Antioxidants - Cold-pressed oils like those in Visantol (a tablespoon daily on salads) combined with anti-inflammatory herbs and spices can support the body naturally.

  7. Low-Carb Diet - Reducing sugar and processed carbs is essential. Also, removing dairy and grain-based foods (especially early on) may reduce inflammatory triggers.

Other Hidden Triggers: The Nickel Factor

Some individuals unknowingly react strongly to nickel — found in jewellery, belts, watches, and other items. Even trace exposure can trigger chronic reactions. In such cases, avoiding all contact with nickel may dramatically improve symptoms, sometimes after years of ineffective treatment. Muscle testing (kinesiology) has been shown to be a helpful tool in identifying such sensitivities.

Simple Desensitisation Techniques

One natural technique involves gently tapping the thymus area (center of the chest) each morning — said to help “retrain” the immune system. Additionally, in cases of specific allergies (to cats, dogs, certain foods), some practitioners apply a technique where the person holds or touches the allergen while the upper back (thoracic spine) is tapped gently for several minutes. This is believed to help the nervous system process the allergen differently.

While these methods aren't yet widely documented in clinical studies, they’ve shown promising results in practice.
